An intriguing tour
I always thought that I would do the tour around Torch Lake in Michigan. I am not sure what the appeal is of circumnavigating a body of water, but it is one that exists for me. That seems to be the case with hiking, bicycling or snowshoeing. Maybe finishing the circle brings some type of closure to the experience.
Some information for Israel Tourism arrived today and one of the announcements that caught my eye was a tour around the Dead Sea. I immediately clicked on the link only to find that the English
link was in Hebrew. I found a few details like the ride is only two days and passes through both Israel and Jordan. The reason for the tour is to bring awareness to the plight of the Dead Sea, which since it is already dead it can’t be the reason for the tour. No, the Dead Sea is drying out according to the website.
I haven’t been to Israel and it’s a long way to go for a three-day bike ride. If I were to go that far, I would have to stay and see the historic sites in both Jordan and Israel. I visited Jordan in 2001 and was fascinated by the country and did peek over into Israel form Bethany on the Jordan, the place that archaeologists say is the exact spot where Jesus Christ was baptized.
