I'm just into this book "Portland to Portland" a few pages and can tell you I can experience and feel each and every bump, climb and everything that bicycle touring can throw at you. I relate to lot of Robert and Theresa's endeavors for I've experiences them myself. No matter how much touring one has done, each tour has new surprises, hardships and joys.
