overwhelming response
First, this is a temporary site and not totally functional. There are some inherent dangers of fooling with Wordpress when coding skills are minimal. This site will have to do until we can figure out what the problem is with the other, which seems to only use a white font for posts. We can’t figure it out, so if any of you have any WordPress knowledge, we would appreciate your help. It’s probably something very simple. It can’t be as hard as climbing out of Oxkutzcab or pushing bikes up to Cardrona, which is supposedly totally paved these days.
Well, we must say that it was thrilling to hear from so many people from the MVCDS community. Thanks for your wonderful letters and contributions. Mr. Russell needs to have a constant Pepsi supply on hand during the trip. Theresa has other vices and will pass on the Pepsi, but hopes to get to Walla Walla early enough in the day to visit some vineyards or at least partake of one of their products.
A few were wondering how we could start a trip on May 1. Seems that one math teacher was very spoiled by his MV students. In the two years that we have been in the Albany area, he has taught at two different schools. Trying a third school in as many years just wasn’t worth the stress.
We bought an abandoned 1850 Greek Revival home and have been working on renovating that along with Tatiana’s house. We had hoped to have it finished by September 1. Yes, last month. We are rushing to get heat, plumbing and electric in before it gets too cold and before the Porta Potty gets picked up. We are definitely living the high life here.
The house has lots of history with it and we aren’t so thrilled with that history. Maybe some of you recall a murder in Toledo a few years ago that involved a guy being found dead by his daughters when they got off the school bus. That happened to be Theresa’s baby brother. Oddly enough, a man was violently murdered in this house that we are fixing. He is on record as the guy with the most stab wounds to a victim. We were not aware of this when we bought this property. The house did not have a sign on it. We found out about the house when we went on a bike ride with the local historian.
The house had been abandoned for years and the lot was so overgrown that the house was barely visible. It is on one acre with a creek in the back. Sometime, we will post some photos. Anyway, because of our connection with murders, we just don’t feel comfortable living in this house. In true Russell style, most of the flooring and structure has been replaced. The house will be nice and fresh for somebody else.
On that pleasant thought, we are hoping that we can get some people interested in riding with us for an hour, a day or longer. We should be in Toledo around mid-June.
It sounds like a few of you are close to where we currently live. If you are in the neighborhood, give us a buzz.
