Sunday in Merida
Sunday in Round Lake isn’t quite like Sunday in Merida, but we did have a fund raiser today. The organizers thought that we were in Mexico because they had everything outside. There is no heat in the auditorium, which is where this event was held. Now, if this were Sunday in Merida,
we would have been awakened by the military bugles at the flag raising ceremony. The all decked-out dancers would then come out and dance with trays of food and bevarages on their heads. Kids would safely play in the plaza while their parents visited. Families rent triciclos and pedal around the are of the main plaza. Sunday in Merida should be integrated into every big city.
The food at the event in the village tonight was good. But nothing compares to what can be had on the streets of Merida. Look at those traditional foods in the photo. French fries. Very Mexican. Papas fritas. A bowl of sopa de lima sounds pretty appealing right now. It is getting to be the perfect weather for making such a tangy soup. The limes are the tricky part. Limes here just aren’t the same as those in Mexico.
Our Sunday in Round Lake doesn’t quite compare, but had the same convivial atmosphere along with good music and good food. I
Anybody for some french toast from Burger King?
