The First Night is Booked
It’s hard to believe with the cold weather and the snow in the forecast that May 1 is only 19 days away. That inspired me to do some preparation for this trip. In my usual ADD manner, I attended to several different things.
The first exciting event of the day is making a reservation for our first night in Astoria. We are staying at the Cannery Pier Hotel -
Guess we can’t keep away from things that seem to have arisen from the dust with a new life. In case you don’t know, I am referring to the house that we are almost finished renovating. We have been almost finished for a very long time now. It’s all relative.
Besides finding a place to stay in Astoria, I have been working on routes and maps. That takes more time that I expect it to and unfortunately, although I had started working on these months ago, I hardly remember any of the details of the route. Those details are slowly coming back to me.
Maybe the biggest event of the day was putting my bicycle in the trainer. It sure looks nice there - kind of an interesting conversation piece. If I don’t get motivated and ride it pretty soon, I may be facing some really tough days on the road. Well, at least we are taking it easy the first few days and only riding 30 or so miles. If we get an early start, we can almost walk the 30 miles in a day if we have to.
